Self-leadership begins with you as an individual and your willingness to improve your life. So, with this in mind really am grateful for the opportunity to have got to do NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) this year and improve my life in some small way.
Improving on and building a better life doesn’t mean there’s a need for big or grandiose achievements. While these may happen, they don’t have to for you to live a life of self-leadership. Becoming a self-leader doesn’t mean you have to set out to save the world or anything like that. What is meant is that you identify what you love and want to do in life. Having done this, you then give it your all to make these things happen, to take ownership and the responsibility to see that they become an integral part of everything you do as you move forward with your life.
Luck favours the brave and, if you want to live the life of a self-leader, you will need some element of luck, but you will also need to be brave and determined. The fact is, luck often only comes to those who do the legwork, the ones who are prepared to put the time, effort and energy into looking at where they want to be in their life and how best to make this a reality. They are the ones who have the determination to go on and take action to make sure they have a chance of achieving the life they want to live. They understand that they must take on the traits of the self-leader within their life and work if they are to succeed and be successful.
How many people are just going through the motions of day to day living, reliving the same week over and over again? Indeed, for many people nowadays, it is not only a matter of going through the motions: it is a case of hanging in there and getting through each day, living day to day. People speak in terms of success being about survival, both personally and professionally.
People end up watching the same programmes on television, making the same daily journey(s), doing the same things day in, day out. They build their lives around the schedules they have for their work (that is, if they have work to go to), home and sleep. They keep their head down and get on with it without allowing themselves time to break out of the daily cycle of their lives. This gives them no time to think or work towards having a better and brighter future for themselves, their family and their community.
Is this the case for you? Honestly, are you one of those people going through the motions of day to day living, reliving the same week over and over? Or are you just hanging in there, getting through each day, living day to day? Many people are in this situation, but it doesn’t have to be like that. It is my belief that each and every person can live a life of success and happiness, regardless of their past or the life they are living right now. While they may never have taken the time to think about what they want and why they want it, that does not mean it has to be this way. So, go on and give yourself sometime out to look at the life you really want to be living.
