When you hear the word creativity, what comes to mind? Do you see yourself as being a creative person? If so, why? Moreover, if not – Is it now time to let spring be a time of creativity for you?

Only a minority of people believe they are creative. Most people are not educated to value and encourage creativity. Creative confidence is not about being certain of the answers, but about being certain that, you will find the answers yourself. You will, indeed, face many challenges along the way. If you allow yourself to be creative, you need have no fear, for the answers will come to point you in the right direction.

Who comes to mind when you think of people who are creative? Most people find the really creative ones a little left of centre. But I don’t mean creativity to that extent, just letting a little more creativity into your life and work. Be a little more creative in the decisions you make and how you deal with challenges that arise as you pursue the life you want to live.
You have to be creative in how you respond to the challenges of life if you are to live a life of self-leadership. Self- leaders accept the challenge of allowing creativity to flourish yet, at the same time, ground this creativity in a way that it can best serve how they want to live their life.

As Einstein said: “Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand.” Nothing exists that was not once an idea, which the English poet William Blake echoed when he wrote: “Everything starts in the imagination.” So many things in the natural and human world start as a seed; ideas and visions are seeds of potentially great things. Self-leaders use creativity to challenge the status quo of where they are in life and where they want to be in the future. They do this in a practical and realistic manner.

You cannot get creative just by reading about it or watching it: there is a need to throw yourself into it. Creativity is not limited by circumstances. You have to get stuck in there and get your hands dirty to allow it to have a real and genuine impact on your life; to allow creativity to inform you where you want your life and work to go. So then, is it now time to let spring be a time of creativity for you?
